Te Aka Toro

The name comes from the saying:

E toro I nga kawai – They seek the branches

I toro ki tawhiti – That stretch far and wide

Toro/Tono = gain / ask/ seek

This whakatauki talks about the vine of the aruhe, searching for sustenance and whakapapa. It can be used in any context when searching for kinship, friendships and kai or any other form of sustenance.
